This week, we’ve had some major issues with ice and snow in Nashville. In fact, LifeWay offices have actually been closed for a couple of days. That rarely happens. And during this week of bad weather, we have our first 2015 YOU Lead in Seattle, in addition to Living Proof Live there this weekend.
With so many unknown factors with the weather and travel, we’ve definitely been reminded that we are not in control. In this time of waiting, it’s easy to ask, “Does God realize what is going on?”
OK, of course I realize He does know. He’s gone before us. He will direct our steps (or our stay home). He will take care of expenses incurred and all those who are attending. (Both events are sold out!) So what is He teaching me in the midst of this “storm”?
1. I may be a leader, but I’m not in charge of the world. But God is and He has a plan! (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
2. He knew February 2015 would include a YOU Lead training event and an ice storm. (Ephesians 2:10)
4. I can influence others to panic or to trust. I prefer to trust! (Jeremiah 1:9)
So for today, I choose not to panic, but to trust Him instead. Do I want to make it to Seattle? You bet. Serving these leaders is a joy and a calling. But when I cannot control the situation, I choose to trust. How about you? How do you influence those you lead when things are out of your control?
